For many of the companies we work with there is general shortage of workers. These unfilled positions often restrict these companies’ abilities to grow by not having enough of the right talent to do the work. There are currently over 35,000 open positions on the Wisconsin Job Network website alone. This shortage of qualified workers has created a highly competitive hiring environment.
We live in the digital age, where job applicants can scour the Internet finding hundreds of jobs at a time. Once they find a position they are interested in, they seek to answer the question of whether the company is one for which they would want to work. Your website and social media platforms become the place where they first interact with you and begin to form an impression of you as a potential employer.
Think of your digital channels like the lobby of your building.
• Are they inviting?
• Are they friendly?
• Do they tell your visitors about what you do?
• Do they give the impression of a growing and vibrant company?
• Is it one they would want to become a part of?
Do a self-assessment of your website and social media channels. If the answer to any of these questions is no, it may be time to improve that first impression – not only for potential employees, but also for your customers and partners.
