In honor of National Packaging Design Day on May 7, we asked one of our packaging design experts to give us a few of her secrets to creating successful packaging.
Tip #1 – Keep it Simple
Minimalistic package design is on trend for good reason. Consumers are bombarded with visual information at every step of the purchasing process. Keep it simple for a quick, easy read in Market.
Tip # 2 – Think Longevity
Make your packaging designs attractive and eye-catching when in Market so your design doesn’t go out of style. Trends come and go but a well-designed package will stand the test of time.
Tip # 3 – Consider Future Packaging Needs
You may start off with one product but you should consider that it might expand to more in the future. When your client is ready to launch that new flavor, scent or version, you can easily adapt or extend the packaging design.
Tip # 4 – Work with a Printer
Before you get too far into the final design, it’s a good idea to chat with a printer. Printing can make all the difference in the final outcome of your package – and a better-looking final product.
Tip # 5 – Check Legal Requirements
Depending on the item, the information on the packaging and how it is worded and formatted may be mandated by law. Check these details before you go to print to prevent costly reprints, fines or lawsuits.
